Luprops rugosissimus Kaszab, 1980: 194 .
Description. Detailed description (without aedeagus) is provided by Kaszab (1980). Aedeagus with parameres very narrow, nearly three times as long as wide at base, apex pointed ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 8 ).
Specimens examined (not sexed). INDIA. Pondicherry: Karaikkal, Kurumbagaram, III. 1951, P. Susai Nathan (3, HNHM). – SRI LANKA. North Central Province: Anuradhapura District, Kalawewa, 16. and 17. II. 1996, Madarász (holotype and 2 paratypes, HNHM); Anuradhapura District, Wilpattu Nat. Park, 13. VII. 1978, Renner (1, HNHM). Sabaragamuwa Province: Ratnapura District, Udawalawe, Dam Site, 250’, 19. X. 1970, O. S. Flint, Jr. (1 paratype, HNHM); Ratnapura District, Udawalawe, 300’, 1. VIII. 1973, Ginter Ekis (1 paratype, HNHM).
Distribution. Sri Lanka; India ( Pondicherry). First record from India.
Remarks. Luprops rugosissimus Kaszab ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17 – 21 ) can be easily distinguished from all other South Indian and Sri Lankan species by the following characters: larger size (9 mm or more); distinctively long and erect pubescence; elytra with traces of carinae towards lateral sides; posterior angles of pronotum rounded.
