Diagnosis. The new species is differentiated from any known species of the genus Torodora Meyrick and its related genera by having the sharply produced apex of the forewing and the male genitalia with unique shape of uncus which is triangular and broadened distally.
Description. Male. ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 C–G). Wingspan 7.5 mm.
Head: Vertex shinny yellowish-white appressed scales, covered with brownish scales posteriorly. Antenna broken medially; basal segment elongated, brownish gray dorsally; flagellum yellowish white throughout, without annulations. Second segment of labial palpus slightly thickened, arched, yellowish brown on outer surface; yellowish white on inner surface; 3 rd segment slender, as long as 2 nd segment, strongly upturned.
Thorax: Tegula and thorax dark yellowish-brown dorsally. Hind tibia dark brown on outer surface with broad pale orange median band. Forewing ground color dark yellowish-brown throughout; a large, yellowish-white elliptical spot well developed at middle; costa nearly straight, partly pale yellow on anterior margin, especially clear in apical 1/4; apex sharply produced; termen very oblique, sinuate; fringe yellowish white, except with black scales before apex and fuscous scales beyond 2/3. Hindwing with several large, elongated yellowish-white fascia well developed under surface of wing, longest one on upper M 1 vein and the other shorter ones bordered by blackish scales beyond about middle of wing.
Abdomen ( Fig. 5H View FIGURE 5 ): Spinous zones on upper surface well developed, especially more dense, broader in segments II–IV.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 C–G): Uncus more or less spatulate, inversely triangular, broadened distally with nearly flat caudal margin. Gnathos large, elongated, strongly bent beyond 2/3 with sharply pointed apex. Valva broadened basally; costa nearly straight in basal 1/6, then oblique; cucullus more or less triangular, about 1/2 length of basal part of valva, densely setose. Juxta convex on caudal margin with thumb-like latero-caudal margin, rounded apically. Aedeagus globular in basal 2/5, nearly parallel sided beyond; cornutus small, spine-like, bent apically.
Distribution. The Philippines (Luzon).
Etymology. The species name is derived from the Greek, platys (= broad, flat), referring to the broad uncus.
