Sophela Walker, 1867: 17 . Type species by monotypy: Callidea spinigera Dallas, 1849 . Downgraded to subgenus of Lamprocoris by Stål (1873: 22), synonymized by Distant (1899: 49).

DIAGNOSIS: Large (12–16 mm), brilliant metallic species without black markings on dorsum ( Fig. 3 View Fig ). Differs from the nominotypical subgenus in the following characters: pronotum with humeral spine; basal tumescence of scutellum indistinctly delimited posteriorly; ventrites III– VII with large, conspicuous anterolateral and posterolateral tubercles submarginally.
