Holotype: ♂, Taiwan, Kaoshiung, 4. IX. 1980, collected by C.C. Chiang. Paratype ♀, Taiwan, Kaoshiung, Liukuei, Shanping, 4–8, IX, 1989, collected by K.W. Huang.

Male Body medium in size. Head shorter than pronotum. Vertex evidently sloping forward, frons oblique in profile. Frontal ridge protruding forward between antennae, apical part narrow slightly. Eye ellipse, vertical diameter 1.4 times horizontal diameter and 3.0 times subocular furrow. Antennae filiform. Median keel of pronotum cut by three transverse sulci, hind transverse sulcus placed after middle part, prozona 1.5 times metazona in length. Anterior margin of pronotum with shallow in the middle, hind margin obtuse angle. Interspace of mesosternum narrow, length 1.2 times minimum width. Tegmina short, reaching the middle of third abdominal tergite only. Hind femur robust, dorsal carina serrated, length 3.6 times its maximun width. Hind tibia shorter than femur, with 6 spines on outer side and 8 spines on inner side, outer apical spine absent. Arolium of hind tarsus larger, reaching the apex of claw. Tympanum developed. Cercus extending over the end of epiproct, narrow in the middle, apex curved downward. Furculae absent. Subgenital plate short conical.

Body yellowish brown. Postocular band black, very wider, backward to tegmina. Tegmina with distinct a longitudinal yellow stripe near the middle. Hind femur yellowish brown on outer side, black on inner side. Hind tibia orange and tarsus yellowish brown.

Female. Body larger than male. Antennae filiform, 24 segmented. Ovipositor valves short, wider at base, apex hooked, curved slightly. Others same as male.

Length of body: ♂ 24.6 mm, ♀ 37.4 mm. Length of tegmen: ♂ 7.5 mm, ♀ 11.5 mm. Length of hind femur: ♂ 12.7 mm, ♀ 18.1 mm.

The new species is similar to Traulia brachypeza Bi, 1985 , but differs from the latter by the short tegmina, reaching the middle of third abdominal tergite only. The new species is also similar to Traulia ornate Shiraki, 1910 , but differs from the latter by hind tibia all orange red and furculae of male absent.

Etymology The species is named in honor of Prof. Kailing Xia for his contribution to entomology.
