4. Homogryllacris ascenda sp. nov.
(Map 1, Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 , 7 View FIGURE 7 : B)
Male. Body medium. Fastigium of vertex nearly rounded, about 1.5 times as broad as scape. Eyes ovate. Anterior margin of pronotum broadly rounded, posterior margin nearly straight, lateral lobes of pronotum trapezoid, longer than high, humeral sinus inconspicuous. Tegmina slightly surpassing abdominal apex, base of M vein not united with R vein. Hind wings slightly longer than tegmina. Fore and middle tibiae with 4 pairs of movable long spines and a pair of short apical spurs on ventral margin separately; middle tibiae with an inner apical spur on dorsal margin. Hind femora with 5 – 8 inner spines and 4 – 7 outer spines on ventral margins; hind tibiae with 4 inner spines and 6 outer spines on dorsal margins, a pair of ventral spurs near apex, a pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs. In the middle of ninth abdominal tergite with membranous area, the lateral margins triangular. Tenth abdominal tergite very short, in the middle with a pair of long processes, basal part of processes incurved, apices truncate and decussate. Subgenital plate subquadrate, posterior margin arched concave in the middle, the both sides with semicircle lateral lobes. Styli slender, cylindrical, inserted on both sides of posterior margin of subgenital plate. Cerci long cylindrical, slightly longer than subgenital plate.
Coloration. Body light yellow. Antennal sockets, base and apex of scape, base of pedicel, and fastigium of vertex with blackish spots; ocelli pale yellow; eyes and inner margin of mandibles black. Pronotum with pale red marks. Veins on tegmina purplish red, cells hyaline. Apical part of processes on male tenth abdominal tergite brown.
Female. Unknown.
Measurements(mm). Body: 315.5 – 16.8; pronotum: 34.2 – 4.5; tegmina: 315.0 – 15.5; hind femora: 310.0 – 11.0.
Type material. Holotype, 3, Dashahe, Daozhen, Guizhou, 17 August, 2004, collected by Fu-Ming Shi. Paratypes, 13, Dashahe, Daozhen, Guizhou, 19 August, 2004, collected by Fu-Ming Shi.
Discussion. This new species is similar to Homogryllacris gladiata Liu, 2007 , but differs from the latter in: the middle of male ninth abdominal tergite with membranous area; the processes on male tenth abdominal tergite incurved, apices truncate; apical part of subgenital plate with semicircle lateral lobe.
Distribution. China (Guizhou).
Etymology. The name of the new species is derived from the processes on male tenth abdominal tergite incurved and apical part upturned.
