A description of a male pupal case was given by Dennis & Lavigne (1976a) (as Mallophorina guildiana (Williston)) . A specimen deposited in the United States National Museum is labeled "Jack Jones Pl., Wheatland, Wyo.; VII–29–1973; S. Dennis Collector. ” The description should include the following: abdominal spiracles reddish brown, elongate­oval, situated along midline laterally .
