Type:— SOUTH AFRICA. Transvaal , near Lydenburg, May 1894, Wilms 1233 (holotype: K barcode K000393932 , digital image!).
Eponymy:— The specific epithet is given in the honour of Charles Baron Clarke (1832–1906), discoverer of the species and for his valuable contribution to the flora of Africa.
Distribution:— It is endemic to South Africa, occurring in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
