Described from Zaire and further reported from Nigeria, North Cameroun, Senegal, Sierra Leone, the Ivory Coast and Zimbabwe. The immature stages were described by Deeming (1974: 155–157), who reported the hostplants to be cultivated rice and wild rice ( Oryza barthii ). Moyal (1982: 295–305) recorded the damage by this species to the rice crop in the Ivory Coast and (loc. cit. p.297–298) reported the species to reproduce by ovovivipary.
