Described from Algeria, it has a wide distribution, being recorded from Israel, Iran, Mongolia, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. The larvae develop in stems of Phragmites australis .

Further material: 9♂ 9♀, NIGER: Aïr Massif, Wadi Iberkom, 18°55'N 08°40'E, 24.viii.1983, P.C. Matteson ( NMWC).

From this material two females dissected have each been found to contain a single large egg, in one of which a segmented larva with discernible cephaloskeleton was clearly visible. The male terminalia are illustrated ( Plate 7 , Fig. 31).
