Material studied. Holotype male. FINLAND, Obb, Tervola, Ruuttulampi (UTM grid 7347752:3409692), 70 m, by a spring, Malaise trap, 1.VII–2.VIII. 2004, J. Salmela (MZH). Paratypes. Same data as holotype but 2– 28.VIII.2004 (1♂ MZH); Obb, Tervola, Keskipalo W (UTM grid 7344811:3415109), 50 m, by a spring, Malaise trap, 1.VII–2.VIII.2004, J. Salmela (1♂ MZH); Obb, Tervola, Karhakkamaanjänkä SE (UTM grid 7346274:3415780), 55 m, Malaise trap, 9.VII–2.VIII.2004 (5♂ MZH, 1♂ SDEI).

Description. Male. Head. Brown. Maxillary palpus very pale brown. Antenna concolorous, pale brown. Eye bridge 2 facets wide. Face with 5–12 scattered longer and shorter dark setae. Clypeus with 1–2 dark setae. Maxillary palpus with 3 (rarely 2) segments; segments of variable lengths in relation to each other; segment 1 with one long sharp seta, with a dorsal pit of sensilla; segment 2 with 1 long sharp seta and 5–6 shorter truncate setae, segment 3 with 6–7 short truncate setae. Antennal flagellomere 4 2.15– 3 x as long as wide, neck shorter than broad; longest setae slightly longer than the width of flagellomere. Thorax. Unicolorous brown. Setae dark. Anterior pronotum with 2–4 setae. Prothoracic episternum with 4–6 setae. Scutellum with 4 long setae. Wing. Length 1.6– 1.8 mm. Anal lobe very small. Width/length 0.35–0.40. R1/R 0.70–0.95. c/ w 0.65 –0.90. r-m shorter than bM, both veins non-setose. Haltere pale brown. Legs. Yellowish. Front tibial organ with pale vestiture, forming a patch ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 A). Front tibial spur slightly longer than the tibial width. Abdomen. Pale brown, paler than thorax. Setae dark and strong. Hypopygium, Figs 6 View FIGURE 6 B, C. Brown, as abdomen. Gonocoxa longer than gonostylus; ventral setosity of gonocoxa sparse, setae at the apical part of the mesial margin not elongated. Gonostylus elongated, narrowed towards apex, mesial side slightly impressed; setosity sparse, apicomesially with a few elongated setae; bearing a long apical tooth, with 7–8 subapical megasetae (subequal in size, slender, straight or slightly curved, sharp). Tegmen unmodified, with roundish apex and lateral sides, and without a dorsal finger-like process.

Discussion. See under Corynoptera salmelai sp. n.

Etymology. The name is derived from the Latin words spica (point) and forceps (tweezers), referring to the sharp megasetae on the gonostylus of the species.
