Polystichum pseudodeltodon Tagawa (1937: 159) View in CoL View at ENA . Figure 3 View FIGURE 3 .
Type:— Taiwan Island: Taito (Taitung), inter Kiriyama et Tippon-zan, 4 Oct. 1934, M . Tagawa 1069 ( KYO) .
Polystichum pseudodeltodon has long been identified as P. deltodon ( Baker 1880: 494) Diels (1899: 191) even in the recent works (e.g., Knapp 2011, Hsu et al. 2019). However, P. deltodon does not occur in Taiwan but only in Central and southern China ( Zhang & Barrington 2013) and Japan ( Ebihara 2016). Polystichum pseudodeltodon has pinnae with rounded auricles and hardly toothed pinna margins, whereas P. deltodon has pinnae with acute auricles and toothed pinna margins ( Tagawa 1937, Zhang & Barrington 2013).
Polystichum pseudodeltodon is endemic to Taiwan ( Zhang & Barrington 2013). Morphologically it is quite variable ( Knapp 2011) and more studies are needed.
