Hemacroneuria elongata View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 1–4 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 4 )
Adult habitus. General color brown to dark brown with distinct light markings. Head brownish with a large wingshaped dark brown marking located from central occiput and anterior of tentorial callosities to pale M-line; a trapezoidal dark brown median marking is located between central M-line and clypeus. Triocellate, anterior ocellus much smaller, distance between posterior ocelli nearly half of distance from eyes. Antennae brown; scape and pedicel slightly darker; palpi brownish. Pronotum nearly black with lighter rugosities and contrasting whitish lateral margins, corners obtuse and lateral margins circularly or triangularly convex. Legs uniformly brown. Wings brown but costal area pale, veins brown.
Male ( Figs. 1–3 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 3 ). Forewing length 11.5–12.0 mm. Abdomen yellowish brown, segments 1–8 unmodified. Tergum 10 is bearing a pair of darker knobs laterally to large triangular patches of sensilla basiconica separated by longitudinal median membranous band ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 c–d). Paraprocts strongly curved forward, generally triangular but inner margin apparently semicircular, apex acute and outcurved ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 c–d, 2a, c–d). Hammer large, circular and covered by dark granules, slightly elevated toward triangular tip in lateral view, positioned over midlength of the sternum and flanked by brown posterolateral margin of sternum 9 ( Figs. 1e View FIGURE 1 , 2b View FIGURE 2 ).
Aedeagus ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ) membranous, tubular in shape but apex enlarged and trilobed. Basal portion in ventral view with longitudinal and transverse wrinkles, a central elliptical patch of scales, and a round subapical median lobe. The lateral lobes of apex ear-like in dorsal view, subquadrate in lateral view, about ½ width of the tubular base. The single median apical lobe is nearly of the same size as lateral lobes, with many oblique wrinkles and dense microtrichia on the basoventral projection.
Female ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Forewing length 13.0– 13.5 mm. Abdomen yellowish brown, segments 1–7 unmodified. Subgenital plate wide and projecting over base of paraprocts; posterior margin deeply notched; notch wide and round between a pair of large triangular lobes ( Fig. 4b View FIGURE 4 ).
Type material. Holotype male ( NMP): China: Sichuan Province, 37 km N Baoxing, Qiao Qi vill., Jiajin Shan National Forest Park (individually from vegetation, flowering Rosa ; marsh; along stream), 30°41.2’N 102°42.3’E, 2480 m, 14–16.VI.2014. leg. Etymology. The specific name refers to the elongated subgenital plate of the female.
Distribution. China (central Sichuan).
Affinities. The new species is most similar to H. marginalis Stark & Sivec, 2008 described from Vietnam. Both species have similar head marking ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 a–b, 4a) and tergum 10 of the male. Hemacroneuria elongata , however, can be distinguished by the apically outcurved male paraprocts ( Figs. 1c View FIGURE 1 , 2a, d View FIGURE 2 ) and in the female by the deep and wide posterolateral notch ( Fig. 4b View FIGURE 4 ) of the subgenital plate. The subgenital plate of H. marginalis has a small shallow posterolateral notch.
