Discussion. When Lundblad (1956a) proposed the identity of S. compactilis and S. papillosus , a change not followed by most later authors, he synonymized also S. c. depressus with S. papillosus . As the name-giving depression in P-2 is surely an individual misshapening, we accept Lundblad’s proposal to not accept this subspecies. Notwithstanding the loss of the holotype, C.Angelier’s record can be attributed to S. compactilis .
