Eburodacrys eduardoi View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 5–9 View FIGURES 5 – 13. 5 – 9 )

Female. Integument mostly reddish-orange; scutellum darker; apex of mandibles, genae, apex of antennal tubercles, pronotal tubercles, antemedian and lateral tubercles of prothorax, apex and spine of femora, area behind anterior eburneous callosities and anterior and posterior area of posterior eburneous callosities, narrow band before elytral spines and elytral spines black.

Body covered by long, erect, sparse setae. Head shallowly, finely punctate. Distance between superior eye lobes twice width of one upper lobe. Apex of genae acuminate. Antennae reaching elytral apex at apex of antennomere IX, with fine yellowish pubescence, denser toward apical antennomeres (scape and anterior 3/4 of antennomere III with sparse pubescence); antennomeres with long and sparse setae (longer than width of an antennomere) especially at inner side, gradually sparser toward apical antennomeres; scape curved, strongly excavated dorsally and ventrally; antennomere III with shallow sulcus. Prothorax with median lateral tubercle, acute at apex and antemedian tubercle slightly elevated. Surface of pronotum with transverse wrinkles and deep punctures except smooth centro-longitudinal area; with two elevated tubercles, rounded at apex and slightly directed backward. Prosternum with transversal sulcus. Mesoventrite tuberculate. Elytra almost four times longer than prothorax; surface of anterior half with coarse, dense punctation, at posterior half punctation decreases and at apex there is no punctation. Each elytron with three eburneous callosities: one anterior, elliptical and two posterior, elliptical, contiguous, beginning at same level, lateroposterior one larger than inner posterior one. Apex of elytra with long, external spine, longer than pedicel; at suture with small dentiform projection. Epipleura with tooth near base of elytron.

Profemora subfusiform, meso- and metafemora slender and elongate; apical apex of meso- and metafemora with long inner spine (longer than elytral spine).

Variability. In the male paratype, the antemedian lateral tubercles are not black, antennae reach elytral apex at base of antennomere VII.

Measurements, in mm. Holotype female/ paratype male. Total length, 17.4/19.8; prothorax length, 3.4/3.7; prothorax width at its widest point, 4.4/4.9; elytral length, 12.3/13.3; humeral width, 4.4/4.9.

Etymology. The specific name is a genitive patronym in honor of my father, Eduardo V. Botero, in recognition of everything he taught me, and for his support throughout my life.

Type material. Holotype female, BRAZIL, Amazonas : São Paulo de Olivença ( Rio Solimões ), X.1961, Dirings leg. ( MNRJ) . Paratype male, BRAZIL, Amazonas: Tabatinga , XII.1977, B. Silva leg. ( MNRJ) .

Remarks. Eburodacrys eduardoi sp. nov. is similar to E. sulfurifera in having the scape subglobose, wide at base and strongly sulcate; the pronotal tubercles and lateral spines of prothorax longer than pedicel, the spines slightly curved backward; and the posterior eburneous elytral callosities subcontiguous, the lateroposterior straight and as long as or slightly longer than the inner posterior one. It differs in having the apex of antennal tubercle elevated, the apex of genae strongly projected ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 5 – 13. 5 – 9 ), the disc of pronotum with dense punctures, and the mesoventrite with tubercle. In E. sulfurifera , the apices of antennal tubercles are not elevated, apices of genae are slightly projected ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 5 – 13. 5 – 9 ), the disc of pronotum has wrinkles, and the mesoventrite lacks a tubercle.
