( Figs 1, 3, 5, 7–10 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 , 12–13 View FIGURES 12 – 15 )
Pseudothilmanus alatus Pic, 1918: 2 .
Type material. Holotype, male, India ( MHNP).
Additional material examined. 1 male, W. Almora, Kumaon, Uttar Pradesh, India, 17th June, H. G. C. ( BMNH).
Diagnosis. P. alatus and P. marginatus differ in the shape of the male genitalia ( Figs 12–15 View FIGURES 12 – 15 ). Additionally, P. alatus has more robust antennae ( Figs 3–4 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ) and more strengthened margin of the elytral apex ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ).
Redescription. Male. Body small, elongate, dorsoventrally flattened ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ). Head, pronotum, elytra and antennomeres 3–12 dark brown, antennomeres 1–2 and legs lighter, mouthparts yellow to light brown. Entire body covered by sparse, yellow pubescence.
Head slightly hypognathous in resting position, partly hidden by pronotum, including eyes 1.19 times wider than anterior margin of pronotum. Cranium coarsely punctured, dorsally with long sparsely erected pubescence. Eyes medium-sized, hemispherically prominent, eye diameter 1.05 times their frontal distance. Labrum small, retracted in cranium. Mandibles slender, long, with simple incisor, curved in right angle in apical half, shiny. Maxillary palpi 4-segmented, basal palpomere slightly smaller than palpomere 2, triangular, palpomeres 2 and 3 subequal, both about as long as width, their combined length equals length of palpomere 4, apical palpomere twice longer than width, gradually narrowed to apex, moderately pointed. Labial palpi tiny, apical palpomere pointed. Labium membranous. Gula small, transverse, membranous anteriorly. Antennae 12-segmented, serrate, flattened, reaching one third of elytral length; scapus robust, pedicel short, small, length ratio of antennomeres 1–3 1.52:1:1.65, antennomeres 3 to 11 slightly serrate, subequal in length, apical antennomere narrower, elliptical ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ).
Pronotum flat, widest at basal margin, 1.65 times wider posteriorly than length at midline. Anterior margin weakly emarginate in the middle, lateral margins gradually widened in anterior third and concave posteriorly, posterior margin bisinuate, with the median notch. Anterior angles rounded, posterior angles prominent, acute ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ); surface of disc coarsely punctured, with sparse, erected, long setae, pubescence denser at margins. Prosternum transverse, prosternal process x-shaped, with sclerotized divergent processes at apex. Scutellum flat, simple, almost parallel-sided posteriorly, slightly emarginate at apex. Elytra divergent, widest at humeri, 2.32 times longer than width at humeri, tapering towards apex, lateral margins almost parallel-sided ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ). Each elytron with longitudinal keel running from humeri towards apex, each elytron independently rounded, with strengthened edge ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ).
Whole elytra with fine irregular punctures, covered by sparse, erected setae. Abdomen short, slender, reaching four fifths of elytral length. Legs slender, slightly compressed, with dense, long, erected pubescence, coxae long, robust, trochanters slender, obliquely attached to femora, tarsomeres 1–4 gradually shorter, apical tarsomere long, claws simple, slender, slightly curved ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 11. 1 ).
Male genitalia with long phallus; apical third of phallus gradually narrowed, middle part widest, slender parameres with sharp projections in apical part, phallobase robust ( Figs 12–13 View FIGURES 12 – 15 ).
Measurements. BL 4.80 mm, EL 3.80 mm, WH 1.64 mm, PL 0.75 mm, PW 1.24 mm, Edist 0.38 mm, Ediam 0.40 mm.
Distribution. India: Uttar Pradesh.
