Ecology. Epigeic, acidophilic species occurring mainly in forests.
Zoogeographical distribution type. Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, France, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Yugoslavia ( Sims & Gerard 1999), Sweden, Ireland, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, North Aegean Islands, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey. Introduced to the USA ( Rota 2014: Fauna Europaea). Balkanic-Alpine distribution (Hackenberger Kutuzović & Hackenberger Kutuzović 2013).
Distribution in Germany. Central Germany ( Höser 2001); northern Germany ( Graff 1954); southern Germany ( Funke & Frank 1991; Beck et al. 1999); western Germany (Römbke et al. 2000; PSMS in North-Rhine Westphalia: Haag et al. 2009).
