Pagurus fungiformis Komai & Rahayu, 2004 View in CoL
( Fig. 1A View Fig )
Pagurus fungiformis Komai & Rahayu, 2004: 191 View in CoL View Cited Treatment , figs. 1B, 6–9 [type locality: Bitung, Sulawesi, Indonesia, intertidal]; McLaughlin et al., 2010: 33 (list).
Material examined. 5 males (sl 1.9–2.9 mm), 1 ovigerous female (sl 2.3 mm), ( ZRC 2013.0645 View Materials ), PANGLAO 2004, stn M51, Mayacabac , Panglao Island, 09°36.8'N, 123°52.2'E, sand and sea grass, intertidal, 30 June 2004 GoogleMaps .
Distribution. Previously known from Indonesian localities (Sulawesi and Ambon), intertidal. Now from the Philippines.
Remarks. The present material agrees well with the type description of P. fungiformis by Komai & Rahayu (2004). As has been discussed by the original authors, this species is similar to P. moluccensis in the general morphology and the coloration in life (cf. Fig. 1A, C View Fig ), but it is readily recognisable by the unique, characteristic armature of the palms of both chelae, consisting of closely set, low, rounded tubercles with multi-denticulate margins.
