Kongsbergia View in CoL (s.s.) floridana sp. nov.
( Figs. 64–68, 103, 104)
Description. Character states of the robisoni subgroup. Male: Idiosoma in dorsal view nearly round to shieldshaped and with sides subparallel between humeral region and midlength, tapering posteriorly. Dorsal shield ( Figs. 64, 103) with anterior edge crenellate and with a deep medial depression bearing a large dome-shaped projection; with edge linear or slightly convex in area between eyes and humeral region and with a modest to strong humeral angle; reticulate pattern moderately developed and arranged in series of subparallel longitudinal lines in area between postocular setae; anteromedial hump large, lateral ridges well developed and sinuate, curving inward near midlength and then outward to meet lateral edges of shield posterolaterally to outline an elevated medial area extending posteriorly from anteromedial hump and surrounded by depressed areas laterally and posteriorly; ridge bearing excretory pore large and prominent; medial pair of glandularia posterior to the postocular setae well posterior to lateral pair of glandularia in same region ( Fig. 64, arrows); three pairs of slender setae on posterior edge ( Fig. 103, arrows); colorless to yellow-brown. Ventral shield ( Fig. 66) with projections associated with insertions of fourth legs well developed. Pedipalp ( Fig. 67) with femur bulbous and bearing three papillate projections ventrally. Fourth leg ( Fig. 68) with segments and setae as illustrated. Female: Dorsal shield ( Figs. 65, 104) similar in shape, sculpturing and color to that of male, but ridges relatively weakly developed. Ventral shield similar to that of male but with projections covering insertions of fourth leg smaller. Pedipalp with femur not enlarged and tibia proportionately thicker than in male. Measurements: Male (n=3): Dorsal shield length 300–352(352), width 254–286(286); ventral shield length 330–388(388), width 265–294(294). Lengths pedipalp segments: Tr 22–25(23), Fe 66–95(95), Ge 28–35(35), Ti 106–115(115), Ta 29–32(31). Pedipalp femur height 57–86(86). Length of leg segments: IGe 55–65(65), ITi 82–93(93), ITa 83–92(92); IIGe 61–72(70), IITi 78–97(97), IITa 90–101(101); IIIGe 71–85(85), IIITi 95–109(109), IIITa 101–114(114); IVTr 75–83(83), IVBFe 79–91(88), IVTFe 70–76(76,) IVGe 77–86(86), IVTi 90–95(95), IVTa 98–106(106). Female (n =3): Dorsal shield length 330–342, width 258–288; ventral shield length 340–342, width 272–286. Length of pedipalp segments: Tr 23–25, Fe 60–70, Ge 26–30, Ti 112–120, Ta 30–32. Length of leg segments: IVTr 53–60, IVBFe 62–69, IVTFe 55–60, IVGe 72–76, IVTi 87–90, IVTa 90–98.
Types. Holotype: Male from Sampson Creek beside Rt. 18, 0.5 miles west of Graham, Bradford Co., Florida, USA, 20 November 1970 by DRC (slide) . Paratypes: With same data as holotype, 2 males, 3 females (slides), 2 females (GAW) .
Etymology. Named for state of Florida where the type locality is located.
Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Florida.
Remarks. Males of Kongsbergia floridana sp. nov. differ from those of K. robisoni sp. nov. and K. texana sp. nov. in having the medial pair of glandularia posterior to the postocular setae of the dorsal shield posterior to, rather than at the same level as or anterior to, the lateral pair of glandularia in the same region.
