The genus Bibiodes does not occur in the West Palaearctic in the recent fauna, but is confined to North America and Himalaya. However, the genus occurs sparingly in European Tertiary fossil deposits (e.g., Skartveit 2009, Skartveit & Nel 2017, Krzeminski et al. 2019). In the material from the Oligocene of Germany there is a single, female specimen from Kleinkems (NMB F 2136). This specimen was described by Skartveit & Nel (2017: 75–78, Fig. 212) but no specific name was proposed for it. It is a reasonably well-preserved female with body length 6.5 mm, wing length 6.0 mm.
