Current name: Platanus occidentalis L. ( Platanaceae ).

Note: Nixon & Poole (in Lundellia 6: 133. 2003) wrongly indicated 1133.5 (LINN) as the holotype. As this statement was published after 1 Jan 2001, “holotype” cannot be modified to lectotype because the omission of the phrase "designated here" or an equivalent (Art. 7.11) means that this choice cannot be effective.
