Priopoda dentata Sheng & Sun , sp.n. ( Figures 7–12 View FIGURES 7 – 12 , 29 View FIGURE 29 )
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the apical notch of male’s subgenital plate with one median prominence, as a tooth.
Material examined. Holotype: female, CHINA: Anfu County, 190 m, Jiangxi Province, 24 May 2010, leg. Zhong- Ping Yu ( GSFPM). Paratype s: 1 female, 1 male, Ji’an County, Jiangxi Province, 21 May 2008, leg. Yi Kuang ( GSFPM).
Diagnosis. Flagella with white ring. Terga black except third tergum reddish brown. Lower portion of cheek with fine oblique wrinkles. First tergum of female approximately 2.2 times, male 1.9 times, as long as apical width. Second tergum ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ) slightly coarse, punctures indistinct and unclear. Subgenital plate of male with one deep apical-median notch, a small prominence, as a tooth, on its bottom.
Description. Female. Body length 10.5 to 11.5 mm. Fore wing length 9.0 to 9.5 mm.
Head. Face, gena, vertex and frons with fine coriaceous texture. Face ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ) approximately 2.0 times as wide as long, almost flat, upper-median portion weakly convex, with dense and fine punctures, distance between punctures 0.2 to 1.0 times diameter of puncture. Upper margin with a small median tubercle. Clypeus approximately 3.3 times as wide as long, gradually convex toward apex, with sparse and corresponding large punctures; apical margin smooth, blunt, with dense long brown hairs. Mandible with sparse and fine punctures and long brown hairs; upper tooth slightly curved inward; lower tooth approximately 1.8 to 1.9 times as long as upper tooth. Cheek slightly coarse, with indistinct punctures. Malar space 0.38 to 0.42 times as long as basal width of mandible. Gena with even punctures, distance between punctures 0.2 to 1.5 times diameter of puncture; posterior portion weakly convergent backwardly, in lateral view approximately as long as width of eye. Vertex ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ) with texture as that of gena, interocellar area small, weakly convex. Postocellar line 0.35 to 0.38 times as long as ocular-ocellar line. Frons almost flat, with dense punctures. Antenna length slightly longer than body, approximately 11.0 to 12.0 mm, with 43 flagellomeres; ratio of length from first to fifth flagellomeres: 1.8:1.6:1.5:1.2:1.2. Occipital carina complete.
Mesosoma. Main portions of mesosoma with fine alutaceous texture. Lateral concavity of pronotum with indistinct short transverse wrinkles, upper-posterior portion with fine punctures. Epomia short, distinct. Mesoscutum with even and dense punctures, distance between punctures 0.3 to 0.5 times diameter of puncture; lateral margin from tegula to scutellum strongly marginate. Notaulus indistinct. Scutellum evenly convex, with distinct fine punctures. Postscutellum almost roundly convex. Mesopleuron with dense and uneven punctures. Speculum distinct. Epicnemial carina strong, upper end reaching to half distance to subalar prominence, comparatively far distant from front margin of mesopleuron. Metapleuron with dense, even and fine punctures. Submetapleural carina complete, anterior portion distinctly convex triangularly. Wings brownish hyaline. Fore vein 1cu-a opposite 1/M. Areolet slanting quadrangular, with short petiolate, vein 3rs-m slightly longer than 2rs-m, receiving vein 2m-cu approximately 0.7 to 0.8 distance from vein 2rs-m to 3rs-m. Vein 2-Cu slightly longer than 2cu-a. Hind wing vein 1/cu about 3.0 to 3.5 times as long as cu-a. Legs comparatively slender. Ratio of length of hind tarsomeres from first to fifth: 4.2:1.8:1.4:0.8:0.9. Claws densely pectinate. Propodeum ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ) with very sparse, indistinct and fine punctures. Median longitudinal carina and costula incomplete, or vestigial. Lateral longitudinal, posterior transverse and pleural carinae complete and strong. Propodeal spiracle small, circular, slightly convex, distance to lateral longitudinal carina as long as to pleural carina.
Metasoma. Apical portion of metasoma compressed. First tergum approximately 2.2 times as long as apical width, strongly narrowed towards base, basal and lateral portions smooth, posterior portion with dense fine punctures. Median dorsal carina indistinct. Dorsolateral and ventrolateral carinae complete. Spiracle very small, circular, approximately located at middle of first tergum. Second tergum ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ) 0.8 to 0.9 times as long as apical width, slightly coarse, punctures indistinct. Third tergum with texture similar to that of second tergum, but surface lightly exquisite than that. Remaining terga with dense sandy beige hairs. Ovipositor sheath 0.6 to 0.7 times as long as apical depth of metasoma.
Color ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ). Black, except the following. Ventral profile of basal half of flagella yellowish white, dorsal profile black, apical end of each flagellomere with reddish brown margin. Flagellomeres 13 to 22 or 23 yellowish white. Face yellowish brown, median portion brown. Clypeus, mandibles except teeth, cheek, lower end of gena, upper-lateral portion of frons, front and middle legs, hind coxae, ventral profiles of hind trochanters, hind tibiae except dorsoapical ends, yellowish brown. Third tergum reddish brown. Maxillary palpi, labial palpis, second to fifth hind tarsomeres and first to fourth sternites buff to sandy beige. Lateral portion of fourth sternite with longitudinal blackish brown spot. Propleuron black to brownish black. Upper-lateral corner of pronotum reddish brown. Tegula, stigma and veins brownish black.
Male. Body length approximately 12.0 mm. Fore wing length approximately 9.5 mm. First tergum approximately 1.9 times as long as apical width. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ) with one deep apical-median notch, a small prominence, as a tooth, on its bottom. Hind coxae yellowish brown, dorsal profiles with longitudinal black spots.
Variation. All terga black except third tergum being reddish brown, or/and second tergum black with indistinct brownish black.
Remarks. Similar to P. otaruensis ( Uchida, 1930) , but can be distinguished from the latter by the following combination of characters: speculum distinct; face yellowish brown to brown; flagella with wide white ring; third tergum reddish brown. Priopoda otaruensis : speculum indistinct; face buff, median portion black; flagella without white ring; terga black, median portion slightly brownish.
