Type Locality: Perú, Cajamarca Dept., Río Malleta, Tambillo, 5800 ft (1768 m).
Vernacular Names: Taczanowski's Thomasomys.
Distribution: Isolated localities in NW Perú and WC Bolivia (see Anderson, 1993).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Karyology reviewed by Gardner and Patton (1976). Anderson (1997) regarded the assignment of Bolivian specimens as tentative.
