Subgenus Calathus View in CoL s. str.
Third antennomere without pubescence or with pubescence apically. Mentum tooth bifid. Pronotal laterobasal seta removed from side margin. Lateral bead of prosternal process present. Parascutellar seta present. Elytra glabrous, with 3-14 discal setae in the third interval, with 0-12 setae in the 5th interval, and with 0-6 setae in the 7th interval. Elytral microsculpture nearly isodiametric. Metepisternum elongated or short. Male protarsomeres dilated. Lateral grooves present or absent on metatarsomeres I-IV. Apical gonocoxite very short, robust, with one ensiform seta at external margin; sensory pit of apical gonocoxite well developed. Aedeagus left side up in repose; median lobe apical disc absent; apical hook of long paramere present; membranous lobe of short paramere present.
