The new species is similar to A. leucocephala (Staudinger, 1879) externally, but differs in having a narrower costal band compared to the latter. It also can be distinguished by the anterior margin of the male eighth sternum convex, the conical gnathos with a pointed apex, and the elongate sacculate corpus bursae in the female genitalia. In A. leucocephala, the anterior margin of the male eighth sternum is not convex, the inflated gnathos has a narrowly rounded apex, and the female corpus bursae is sacculate in posterior 2/3 and rounded in anterior 1/3.

The new species is also similar to A. pallida (Staudinger, 1870) externally. It can be distinguished from the latter by the long valva apically extended to the middle of the uncus, but the relatively shorter valva apically not reaching the uncus in A. pallida; the eighth sternum has two pairs of culcita, and is roundly arched on the posterior margin, but in A. pallida, the eighth sternum has one pair of culcita, and the posterior margin of the eighth sternum is shallowly concave.

Description. Adult (Fig. 7). Wingspan14.5–19.5 mm.

Head. Head with vertex yellowish brown, face and occiput white. Antenna with scape yellowish brown, three times as long as wide; flagellum with dorsal surface yellowish white, ventral surface yellowish brown, with short cilia. Labial palpus upturned, extended over head, yellowish brown on outer surface, white on inner surface; segment II three times as long as segment III; segment III slightly extended forward.

Thorax. Thorax, patagia and tegulae yellowish brown. Forewing yellowish brown, with a milky white costal band about 1/5 width of forewing, extended from base to before apical angle, with scattered yellowish-brown scales in distal half; antemedial and postmedial lines indistinct, discal spot absent; terminal line and fringe yellowish brown. Hindwing grayish yellow, darker along veins; terminal margin pale yellowish brown; fringe grayish white. Legs pale yellow on outer surface, grayish white on inner surface.

Abdomen. Yellowish brown on dorsal surface, grayish white on ventral surface. Eighth sternum (Fig. 15) anterior margin convex, flat medially, posterior margin roundly arched. Two pairs of culcita filiform, about 1/3 length of valva, each pair with a specialized long scale on outer side, about 3/5 length of valva.

Male genitalia (Fig. 15). Uncus elongate triangular, 1.5 times as long as basal width, apex obtusely rounded. Gnathos conical, tapered to pointed apex, about 3/5 length of uncus, weakly curved apically. Transtilla short, sproutshaped. Valva elongate narrow, subparallel to before rounded apex, six times as long as wide; clasper hillockshaped, with fine setae; costa reaching before tip of costal margin, about 1/5 width of valva, pointed at apex; sacculus narrowly banded, about 3/5 length of valva. Juxta U-shaped, 1.5 times as long as wide; lateral lobes short, pisolitic. Vinculum with maximum width about 3/5 of length, anterior margin straight. Aedeagus tubular, about 9/10 length of valva.

Female genitalia (Fig. 20). Papillae anales nearly equilateral triangular, length subequal to width, with fine setae. Apophyses anteriores equally long to apophyses posteriores. Eighth tergum subquadrate, anterior margin convex, posterior margin deeply concave in V-shaped medially. Antrum cylindrical, twice as long as wide. Ductus bursae long and slender, about 3/5 length of corpus bursae; ductus seminalis from posterior 1/9 of ductus bursae, close to antrum. Corpus bursae elongate sacculate, three times as long as maximum width; signa consisting of numerous (about 40) cone-shaped spines, scattered from posterior 1/4 to near anterior margin.

Distribution. China (Gansu, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Tianjin, Xinjiang).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin bi - (double) and culcita, referring to the two pairs of culcita in the eighth sternum.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/E22D87A52A69FFE3159CFC3AFE24F956	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
