Diagnosis. Abdominal sternite III longer than wide (ch.22-0), without dense setulae on medial surface (ch.26-0); IV not wider than long (ch.24-0), without dense setulae on medial surface (ch.27-0); strongly sclerotized arch on anterior margin of aedeagal sheath nearly symmetric in posterior portion bearing posterior postgonites subequal in size, but asymmetric in anterior portion bearing anterior postgonites (“Fig. 22” in Chen et al. 2005b).
Supplementary description (not repeating characters common to P. semiannulata). Supracervical setae 14– 15. Dorsomedial, tentorial apodeme 1/2 as long as basal, parallel portion of dorsolateral, tentorial apodeme. Arista with arb = 2–3/0; apical, leaf-like expansion apically with 1 or 2 awn-like projections. Cibarial, medial sensilla approximately 11 per side; posterior sensilla approximately 5 per side. Pregonite without sensilla on submedial portion (ch.52-0).
The antisymmetry is observed in the anterior postgonites: in A-type, the left postgonite is shorter, and the right one longer (“Fig. 22” in Chen et al. 2005b); but in B-type, vice versa.
