22) Phortica (Ashima) akutsui Toda, sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Arista with arb = 2–3/0 (ch.6-2; Fig. 7C); apical, leaf-like expansion somewhat triangular, distally dilated, apically nearly flat (Fig. 7C); abdominal sternites IV and V dense setulae on medial surface (ch.27,28-1; Fig. 7D); surstylus without peg-like teeth (ch.37-1; Fig. 7E).

Description (not repeating characters common to P. halimunensis). Supracervical setae 14–15. Dorsomedial, tentorial apodeme 3/4 as long as basal, parallel portion of dorsolateral, tentorial apodeme. Cibarial, medial sensilla approximately 6 per side; posterior sensilla 5–7 per side. Fore and hind tarsomere Is as long as rest and 3 succeeding tarsomeres together, respectively. Aedeagal, median rod less sclerotized (ch.58-2; Fig. 7G).

Measurements (holotype, in mm): BL = 2.84, ThL = 1.35, WL = 2.02, WW = 0.95.

Holotype. ♂ (BORN), “ Deramakot Forest Reserve, Sabah, Malaysia, 5°19’–20’N, 117°20’ –42’E, 150 m a.s.l., 31.vii–9.viii.2003, ex banana-trap at 31.5 m from the ground, K. Akutsu ”. Distribution. Borneo (Sabah). Remarks. This species resembles P. mediarista in having the less sclerotized aedeagal, median rod submedially with loop-like structure, but can be distinguished from it by the diagnostic characters. Etymology. Patronym, dedicated to Dr. Kosuke Akutsu, who collected the specimen.
