Minettia (Minettia) baii sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Arista black except brown basally, plumose with longest setulae slightly shorter than height of first flagellomere; acrostichal setulae in six rows; mesonotum without pruinose or colored stripes; abdomen entirely black.
Description. MALE. Body length 4.0– 4.2 mm, wing length 4.5–4.6 mm. FEMALE. Unknown.
Head (Fig. 130) blackish brown, with grayish white pruinescence. Frons wider than long and parallel-sided, anterior margin yellow; ocellar triangle black, ocellar setae developed, about as long as anterior fronto-orbital setae; anterior fronto-orbital setae reclinate, shorter than posterior fronto-orbital setae. Gena about 1/6 height of eye. Antenna brown, first flagellomere about 1.7 times longer than high; arista black except brown basally, plumose with longest setulae slightly shorter than height of first flagellomere. Proboscis blackish brown, with black setulae; palpus black, with black setulae.
Thorax (Fig. 133) blackish brown, with grayish white pruinescence. 0+3 dorsocentral setae; acrostichal setulae in six rows; a pair of prescutellar setae, longer than the first post-sutural dorsocentral setae. One anepisternal seta, two katepisternal setae. Legs blackish brown. Fore femur with eight posterior dorsal setae, seven posterior setae and seven posterior ventral setae; fore tibia with one dorsal preapical seta and one apical ventral seta. Mid femur with six anterior setae; mid tibia with one strong dorsal preapical seta and one strong apical ventral seta. Hind tibia with one strong preapical anterior dorsal seta. Wing (Fig. 131) pale yellow basally, hyaline; costa with 2nd (between R 1 and R 2+3), 3rd (between R 2+3 and R 4+5), and 4th (between R 4+5 and M 1) sections in proportion of 9.4: 2.6: 1.8; r-m on the middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 7.2: 3.6; ultimate section of CuA 1 about 1/5 of penultimate section. Haltere yellow.
Abdomen (Fig. 134) black. Male genitalia (Figs. 135–139): syntergosternite circular, sometimes with membranous ventral process. Epandrium broad, ventral margin with setae. Surstylus with setae, claviform and curved in lateral view, connected with a sclerite behind cercus; hypandrium nearly H-shaped. Postgonite cylindrical, with three long setae at tip. Phallus tubular basally, nearly arc-shaped in lateral view. Phallapodeme longer than phallus, without concavity apically.

Distribution. China (Sichuan).
Etymology. Latin, baii, named after Xiaoshuan Bai, the collector of the holotype.
Remarks. The mesonotum of new species without pruinose or colored stripes; abdomen entirely black without yellow stripe; phallus tubular basally, nearly arc-shaped in lateral view. These characteristics are different from other species of subgenus Minettia .
