Remarks. Oratosquillina inornata was preViously recorded from Tuticorin as the type material of its junior synonym, Oratosquillina hindustanica (Manning, 1978b), which was itself reported by Kemp (1913) under the name Squilla oratoria Var. perpensa Kemp, 1911 (currently Oratosquillina perpensa).

Distribution. Eastern India to the Andaman Sea, Australia, the South China Sea and Taiwan; O. inornata is yet to be recorded from western India; intertidal to at least 70 m (Ahyong & Naiyanetr 2002).
