Type species: Horistonotus flavidus Candèze, 1860, designated by Hyslop (1921).
Diagnosis. Head usually with secondary carina extending from supra-antennal carina over base of antenna to about middle of eye; pronotum carinate laterally; carina complete or not reaching anterior margin of pronotum; pronotum with posterior margin strongly sinuate and with two approximate notches or identations between base of hind angle and median line; suture between meso- and metasternum present; scutellum pentagonal with apex rounded; tarsomeres simple; first tarsomere about as long as second and half of third; claws simple or toothed.
