CURRENT TAXONOMIC STATUS. — Junior subjective synonym of Gecarcoidea lalandii H. Milne Edwards, 1837 (see Türkay 1974a: 974).
LECTOTYPE (designation by Türkay 1974a: 973). — MNHN-IU-2000-3752 (= MNHN-B3752), ♂ 51.5 × 70.9 mm (measurements by Türkay: 54.0 × 70.0 mm), Dos Hermanas Islands, Philippines, coll. Alfred Marche. — Original labels: “ Pelocarcinus Marchei ”, “ Pelocarcinus Marchei A. M. Edw., no 942, 5 crabes, île des Deux Soeurs, Iles Philippines, Alf. Marche”. PRESERVATION OF THE LECTOTYPE. — Dry. RP 1, LP1, LP4 missing.
PARALECTOTYPES (designation by Türkay 1974a: 974). — MNHN-IU- 2000-3753 (= MNHN-B3753), 1 ♂ 57.0 × 79.1 mm, 3 ♀ 47.6 × 63.3 mm, 48.1 × 61.4 mm, ca 57.5 × c. 73.7 mm, same data as lectotype.
PRESERVATION OF THE PARALECTOTYPES. — Dry. 1 ♂ and 1 ♀ in good condition but pereopods detached; 2 ♀ in bad condition.
REMARKS
Türkay (1974a: 973) gave the carapace measurements as 54.0 × 70.0 mm, but presently the specimen measures 51.5 × 70.9 mm.
The mention 2725-1882 on the label corresponds to the information recorded in the CAA.
