COMMENTS: Reviewed by Corbet and Hill (1992), who recognized philippensis as distinct, and allocated many of the forms that were formerly assigned to petaurista to it; the two species are widely sympatric. Also reviewed by Day (1988); karyotypic variation reported by Yong and Dhaliwal (1976).
