DISTRIBUTION: E Jalisco, Michoacan, and N Guerrero (WC Mexico).

SYNONYMS: arceliae Villa-R., 1942; infernatus Alvarez and Ramirez-P., 1968.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Otospermophilus (Hall, 1981:399); but see also Birney and Genoways (1973) who suggested it is closer to subgenus Ictidomys .
