DISTRIBUTION: Brazil, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname.
SYNONYMS: glaucinus Thomas, 1914; hoehnei Miranda Ribeiro, 1941; kuhlii (Gray, 1867).
COMMENTS: Husson (1978) dated the name from Geoffroy's (1803) catalog, a work considered unpublished (see Appendix I) by other authors, and designated a lectotype.
