Muraenichthys johnstonensis Schultz & Woods, 1949:172, fig. 1 (type locality: Johnston Island [Central Pacific]).

Voucher specimen: NTUM 10694 (Kin-men, Taiwan Strait).

Remarks. This is a new record for Taiwan, and in represented by a single specimen collected at Kin-men, western Taiwan Strait.
