Muraenichthys macropterus Bleeker, 1857a:91 (type locality: Ambon Island, Molucca Islands, Indonesia).

Voucher specimen: USNM 314037 (Hengchun, Pingtung).

Remarks. This is a new record for Taiwan. The voucher specimen was collected from a tide pool in southern Taiwan.
