Ilyophis brunneus Gilbert, 1891:352 (type locality: San Cristóbal Island [Chatham Island], Galápagos Islands, 0°36'30"S, 89°19'00"W, 634 fathoms [1159 m]). Chen & Mok, 2001:79; Shao et al., 2008:238.

Remarks. A rare species represented only by a few specimens collected by bottom trawl off northeastern Tawian.
