Uropterygius xanthopterus Bleeker, 1859:350 (type locality: Patjitan, Java, Indonesia).

Voucher specimens: USNM 263107, 312868 (Kenting, S. Taiwan).

Remarks. The only specimen listed in Ho et al. (2010) was subsequently reidentified as U. alboguttatus by DGS. There are two other specimens in the USNM collection, however, that confirm the presence of the species.
