Brachysomophis porphyreus (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846): McCosker & Randall 2001:25.

Voucher specimens: ASIZP 70365, NMMB-P10465 (Da-xi); ASIZP 72251 (Dong-shi).

Remarks. Although McCosker & Randall (2001) noted that this species occurs in the Taiwan Strait, no voucher was available. Recently, several specimens were collected by the first author from shallow water near a river mouth in the Taiwan Strait. It attains a large size, with total length approaching 2 m.
