Remarks. This species is commonly collected by bottom trawl around Taiwan. The identity of Conger japonicus has been disputed for many years, but current studies (Smith et al., in prep.) indicate that Kanazawa (1958) was correct in synonymizing it with C. myriaster . The identity of many references to Conger japonicus in Taiwan is uncertain.
