Remarks. The Moringuidae is undoubtedly the most misunderstood family of eels and one of the most misunderstood of all fish families. It needs to be thoroughly revised. Three species have been recorded in Taiwan, but these records should be considered provisional. Moringua macrochir was recorded by Chou & Kao (2011). However, no voucher was provided and the identification is thus not verified.
