Stelidota geminata (Say, 1825)

Materials examined. Bacău County: ComăneȘti (near), 46.4266°N / 26.4427°E, 1.IX.2020, Alexandru-Mihai Pintilioaie leg. (1 specimen), AMPC .

Remarks. Originating from North America, the species is now present in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Russian Caucasus, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey (Jelínek & Audisio 2007; Guéorguiev 2018; Vávra et al. 2012; Köhler 2009; Merkl et al. 2009; Tsinkevich & Solodovnikov 2014; Jelínek 2014; Spasić et al. 2011). It was also introduced in the Oriental Region and the Near East (Köhler 2009). The adults feed mostly on overripe fruits, although it has been observed as a concurrent source of damage to cultivated strawberries (Pansa et al. 2014; Ruzzier et al. 2023b). It was recorded only recently in Romania (2018) on overripe pears (Stan 2019).
