Diagnosis. This species is distinguished by the completely dark brown scutum, acrostichals divergent around the prescutellar depression, 5–6 pairs of dorsocentrals with few intermediate setae, scutellum with several marginal setulae, fore femur apically without strong anterior setae; clasping cercus with anterior lobe short, pointed, bearing cluster of apical setae; dorsal process subtriangular, inner margin clothed in dense setae.

Distribution. PALAEARCTIC: Caucasus: Russia (Krasnodarsky Territory, Karachay-Cherkess Republic), Georgia, Abkhazia.

Remarks. Joost (1981) reported this species from the territory of Russian Caucasus—Dombai and Teberda, but Chvála & Wagner (1989) in the Catalogue of Palaearctic Diptera mistakenly indicated the species only from the Georgian territory. Therefore the species is noted for Georgia and Abkhazia for the first time. This species is commonly known from mountain rivers at elevations from 288–1500 m a.s.l. and is active from April to July.
