Cryptalaus furunculus (Sarkar, Saha & Raychaudhuri, 2016) comb. nov.

Ampedus furunculus Sarkar, Saha, Raychaudhuri, 2015: 126 (nomen nudum; published without description, unavailable name; ICZN 1999, Art. 13).

Ampedus furunculus Sarkar, Saha & Raychaudhuri, 2016: 2 (original description; type locality: Rajabhatkhawa, Alipurduar district, West Bengal, India).

Distribution. INDIA: West Bengal.

Remarks. The morphological characters mentioned in the original description of this species are different than those of the genus Ampedus Dejean, 1833 (Schimmel 1993). Based on the original description, dorsal habitus, illustrations and photograph of the male genitalia (Sarkar et al. 2016: 2–3; Fig. 1, 6–8), it is clear that this species should be transferred to the genus Cryptalaus . Additionally, we also examined the photographs of the holotype of this species shared with AP by one of the authors of this species (back in 2012). Therefore, we propose Cryptalaus furunculus (Sarkar, Saha & Raychaudhuri, 2016) comb. nov. In the description, the body length and width of the holotype are given as 11.86 and 3.29 without any metric units. Surprisingly, if the scale in the illustrations (Sarkar et al. 2016: 4; Figs 1–6) is traced to match with the corresponding illustration of the dorsal habitus, the body length is coming to 21 mm and width to 6 mm (assuming the metric unit is in millimetres).
