Cryptalaus emarginatus (Punam, Vats & Saini, 1996) comb. nov.

Chalcolepis emarginatus Punam, Vats & Saini, 1996: 66 (original description; type locality: Jatinga, Dima Hasao district, Assam, India).

Distribution. INDIA: Assam.

Remarks. The morphological characters mentioned in the original description are not of the Neotropical genus Chalcolepis Candèze, 1857 (Casari 2008). Based on the original description and illustration of the male genitalia (Punam, Vats & Saini 1996: 66; Fig. 5), the species is transferred to the genus Cryptalaus and we propose Cryptalaus emarginatus (Punam, Vats & Saini, 1996) comb. nov.
