Pre­occupied by Moureana Zajciw 1967: 527 . Type species: Moureana unicolor Zajciw 1967 . By original designation.

In his revision of Megachile (1980) Professor Mitchell erected a new subgenus and named it Moureana after Padre Jesus Moure of the Universidade Federal do Paraná. However, the name is pre­occupied by a genus of Cerambycidae of Zajciw (1967) for the then undescribed species of M. unicolor . The holotype of the beetle is in the collection of Sr. Alberto Campos Seabra of Rio de Janeiro.
