Megachile propinqua Smith 1879: 74 . Female. Type locality: Ega [= Tefé]; Tapajos and Tunantins [Brazil]. Type repository: BNHM 17a2666. Examined. The specimen is labelled “ proxima Smith ” and, presumably, Smith changed the published name to avoid synonymy with Megachile proxima Smith 1870: 177 (= Chalicodoma (Pseudomegachile) lanata (F)).
