Megachile quadrispinosella Strand 1910: 526 ­527. Female. Type locality: Asuncion, Paraguay. From Strand’s observation that the species is similar to Megachile rhinoceros Friese 1908 (= Megachile (Sayapis) mendozana Cockerell 1907), a very distinctive species typical of Sayapis, M. quadrispinosella is tentatively placed in this subgenus.
