It is similar to C. similis (Haliday, 1833), it is different from the latter by a large drop-shaped sensory pit which is about 1/2 width of mid femur. In the key of Disney (1990), the species runs to couplets 6, to C. flavipalpus Beyer, 1958, it is differs by large drop-shaped pit, smaller aspect of first flagellomere (1.92: 1), presence of lower fronto-orbital setae and brown palpus; while C. flavipalpus Beyer without sensory pit on mid femur, larger aspect of first flagellomere (4.75: 1), absence of lower fronto-orbital setae and yellow palpus.
