Identification. Test moderately sized, creamish in color. Spines white, banded brown and greenish, equatorial spines long, facing downwards, creating a fringe appearance; eccentric anal opening.

Global maximum size. Maximum test diameter 50 mm.

Global distribution. East coast of South Africa, East African coast and Seychelles at 10–70 (Schultz 2010).

Remarks. Schultz (2010) reports on a species having more reddish spines; there are, however, no traces of red in the Iziko Museum specimens, which have alternating green and brown bands.
