Macrothyatira subaureata (Sick, 1941)

Melanocraspes subaureata Sick, 1941: 3 . Type-locality: China, Yunnan, Li-kiang. Neotype ♂ (ZFMK).

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Remarks. Laszlo et al. (2007) treated M. danieli Werny, 1966, described from Nepal, as a subspecies of M. subaureata Sick, 1941 although with some doubts. Although the male genitalia of these two species are different in the shape of the valva and the carinal hooks, they still considered that the discovery of the female of M. subaureata would help to solve the problem. Here we give a figure of the female genitalia of M. subaureata (Fig. 31, Yunnan, Lijiang, Yulongshan, 3200 m, 15.VII.1980, coll. Wang Ziqing, slide no. Drep-00717). It has an elongate signum, in contrast to the almost round one in M. danieli . Thus, we restore M. subaureata danieli to specific rank as Macrothyatira danieli Werny, 1966, stat.rev., bona species.
